Colette Boyd of Litchfield was one of two recipients of a Wisdom Award Wednesday at the Wisdom House Retreat and Conference Center.
The awards were handed out for the 20th consecutive year. Thomas Bechtle of West Cornwall was the other recipient.
Boyd was recognized as a promoter of community spirit and Bechtle as a champion of learning. The awards were given by the Daughters of Wisdom and each year cite individuals from northwest Connecticut who volunteer in the areas of hospitality, health care and community endeavors promoting the common good.
Boyd has assisted fundraising efforts for Child and Family Services, helped the Clothes Tree Thrift Shop find its current location in Bantam, and organized a Lenten dinner at St. Anthony of Padua Church that has evolved into a multi-church soup supper series.
She has organized the annual Living Nativity at the Lourdes Shrine since 1998. The event involves more than 100 local students singing, playing instruments and reading passages from the Bible.
At the Oliver Wolcott Library, Boyd has been involved with organizing the library’s annual Festival of Trees fundraiser. She also serves on the library’s board of directors and has served on the Connecticut Community Foundation’s scholarship review committee.
