Opening day of fishing season Saturday began with the 29th annual fisherman's breakfast at the East Litchfield Volunteer Fire Co.
Firefighters and other volunteers began serving pancakes, eggs, bacon and toast at 5 a.m. and didn't stop until 11. A crowd of more than 200 stopped in to eat, many of them fishermen who were on their way to a local pond, lake, stream or river to try their luck.
The breakfast is a fundraiser for the fire company. Proceeds assist with the purchase of equipment.
