The next stop for a proposal to extend the Litchfield Community Greenway along Route 202 between Bissell Road and North Shore Road is the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Planning and zoning will entertain the proposal on the heels of it being approved by the Inland Wetlands Commission on Sept. 12.
In addition to a green light from planning and zoning, Friends of the Litchfield Community Greenway also needs approval from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The proposed extension is about a quarter-mile in length and would include 390 feet of boardwalk and a pedestrian bridge over Butternut Brook.
The greenway begins at the corner of South Lake Street and Whites Woods Road and leads to Bissell Road. Another planned stretch of the greenway would link North Shore Road to Route 202 in Bantam.
