An internet safety program sponsored by the Litchfield Prevention Council is being held on Monday as part of the council’s effort to promote healthy living and sound decision-making for young people.
Internet safety consultant Scott Driscoll will speak at 7 p.m. at the Litchfield Intermediate School auditorium. Driscoll’s talk will follow presentations to high school and middle school students during the day. The evening presentation is free and open to the public.
Driscoll, a former police officer, was an internet safety instructor for fifth-graders and eventually developed safety presentations for students of all ages.
Later, Driscoll joined a federal task force investigating crimes against children and participated in numerous operations involving computer crimes against children. It was during this time that Driscoll realized a need for internet and technology safety and started his consulting business, Internet Safety Concepts.
Driscoll has co-authored a book, ‘www.RU in Danger,’ illustrating the dangers of the internet and technology for the uneducated or unaware. The book is for educators, families and children.
