A nonperishable food drive benefiting local families in need has been launched by the St. Anthony’s Council of the Knights of Columbus.
The Food for Families drive is being held in memory of Dick Dauphinais, a council member who died in January. Dauphinais was a tireless volunteer for community causes.
Collection boxes have been set up at Stop & Shop, which helped kick off the drive by donating 64 $10 food boxes to the council. The boxes filled with rice, pasta and canned goods were bought by Stop & Shop customers for the cause of helping the needy.
Food collected will be donated to needy families identified by St. Anthony of Padua Church, Our Lady of Grace Church in Bantam and the Montfort Missionaries in Litchfield. The Community Soup Kitchen of Torrington will also receive donations.
