A Goshen Center School student fighting a brain tumor had a visit from some of his favorite superheroes on Friday.
The visiti came courtesy of students from Litchfield High School's Acts of Kindness Club, which works to provide services benefiting the community. Accompanied by their adviser, Kathy Johnson, the students spent nearly an hour bringing joy to James Fitzgerald and his kindergarten classmates.
James, a huge fan of superheroes, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December and surgery at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center removed nearly 90 percent of it. For the next several weeks, James is undergoing daily radiation treatment at CCMC.
The Goshen Center School community has risen in support of James and his family.
"It is unbelievable and overwhelming how great everyone has been," James' father, Mike, said on Friday.
The school is conducting a gift card drive to assist Fitzgerald and his wife, Beth, with costs associated with James' treatment. For more information, call the school at 860-491-6020.
