Local spelling champion to compete at state level

Litchfield Intermediate School fourth-grader Jack Reynolds holds the first-place trophy he won in the Litchfield Education Foundation spelling bee at the Oliver Wolcott Library on Tuesday. Jack outdueled sixth-grader Jamie Reidy to capture first place in the bee for fourth through sixth-graders at LIS.

He will compete in the Connecticut Spelling Bee Saturday at the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford. The LEF also held a spelling bee for Litchfield Middle School students and the winner was Rachel Glander, who has opted out of the state competition. BZ photo
