It was a big night at the Northfield firehouse on Monday as longtime Northfield Volunteer Fire Co. member Ethan Walker was recognized for his service.

Walker has been a volunteer firefighter for 62 years. He's also worked as a fire marshal in Northfield and Litchfield since 1977. He'll be retiring from his current position as deputy fire marshal for the town. Walker also served as an instructor at the Litchfield County Fire Training School.

Northfield Fire Chief Ryan Crichton recognized Walker as did state Rep. John Piscopo, R-Thomaston, and Litchfield Fire Marshal Sam Kinkade. Walker's wife, Gail, and their family were on hand as were Northfield firefighters and representatves of the Bantam, East Litchfield and Litchfield fire companies.

Walker was an active member of the Northfield company until 2015, when he stepped down to associate member. He remains a regular at drills and meetings.

Ethan Walker is congratulated by Litchfield Fire Marshal Sam Kinkade, above, and Bantam Fire Co. representative John Campbell, below.
