Litchfield's Board of Selectmen will consider Board of Finance member Anne C. Dranginis for the vacant selectman's seat.
The Democratic Town Committee is recommending Dranginis to the selectmen for the seat that belonged to the late Diane Knox, who died on Dec. 18.
Selectmen are likely to appoint Dranginis on Jan. 9. She would serve until 2019, when Knox's term was due to expire.
The town committee also considered recommending Denise Raap of the Planning and Zoning Commission and unsuccessful first selectman candidate Matthew Blasavage before recommending Dranginis, according to town committee Chairman Darlene Clouther.
First Selectman Leo Paul Jr. said he's pleased with the recommendation of Dranginis and that she would make a good selectman.
Dranginis has been on the finance board since 2011 and has two years remaining in her current term. If selectmen appoint her to fill the vacancy, Dranginis would have to step down from the finance board.
