Care packages that have been distributed to 23 senior citizens in town in time for Christmas included baskets of cookies decorated by students from Warren School and Warren Church Day Care, as well as cookies donated by their families.

The school and the day care teamed up on the project for the first time. Cookies were decorated and packaged at the Warren Congregational Church on Thursday and were distributed by the town Social Services Department.

Supervising the decorating and packaging operation were Sarah Churyk, director of the day care, Warren School teachers Karen Brady and Laurie Sweet, paraprofessional Kathy Brown, school nurse Michele Ferrer, Social Services Director Melissa Woodward, Warren Public Library children's librarian Melissa Fillie, and day care teacher Briana Brown.

Kindergartener Chloe Churyk was one of the enthusiastic cookie decorators.
