Cowboys lose home opener in extra innings

Litchfield pitcher Matt Schweter can only watch as a Shepaug runner scores what turned out to be the winning run on a wild pitch.
It was a tough-luck loss for Litchfield in its home opener against Shepaug on Monday.
Shepaug tied the game at 3 in the top of the seventh to force extra innings and won the contest with a run in the ninth. Litchfield is 0-2.
Jared Guilmart pitched seven solid innings for the Cowboys, giving up four hits and striking out three. Matt Schweter was the loser in relief. Schweter had two singles and an RBI and Christian Hudak added two singles.
