With an experienced group of players returning, Litchfield High's boys' soccer team is looking to improve on last year's 3-12-1 mark.
Seniors Ryan Murphy, a midfielder and defender, and Austin Marino, also a midfielder and defender, are the co-captains. The Cowboys opened the season with a 1-0 loss to Shepaug on Friday.
Other key returning players are senior Jacob Honig and juniors Charlie Shanks, Miles Chapman, Augie Hurtado, goalie Colby Bunnel, and Carson Mello. The top newcomer is freshman Tim Donovan
"After a disappointing season last year and a good group of returning players, we hope to have a much better campaign this season and accomplish our goal of playing in the state tournament," coach Rob Andrulis said. "We are optimistic that we can achieve that goal."
Andrulis is in his 17th season. His record is 152-114-20.
