An impressive late-game rally wasn't quite enough for Litchfield in a 63-58 loss to Shepaug on Saturday.
Down by nine in the final minutes, the Cowboys fought back on the strength of three-point field goals by Matt Schweter and Tripp Melk to cut Shepaug's lead to one. Shepaug, however, answered with some clutch play of its own and put the game away at the free-throw line.
It would have been a nice win for the Cowboys, who fell to 6-8. Melk had 15 points to pace four double-figure scorers for Litchfield. Tom Brady scored 12 and Schweter and Glenn Doyle each had 12.
