Litchfield Track Club runners race on Heartbreak Hill

Litchfield Track Club runners participated in the 25th Annual Heartbreak Hill International Mile on Saturday in Newton, Mass. The race is held on the Saturday before the Boston Marathon.
The race, starting at the 19-mile mark of the Boston Marathon in Newton, goes uphill for 800 meters, turns around and goes downhill for 800 meters to the finish. It was the first time since 2002 that the Litchfield Track Club has competed.
The mile run, separated into age groups, including an adult race at the end, attracted youth runners from over 40 states and many countries. Two of the 12 races were won by young runners from Ireland.
The Bergin family, from Goshen, represented the Litchfield Track Club. Attie, 4, was timed in 9:15, Cian, 7, clocked 8:38 in his trip up and down the hill, Danny charged to a 9:18 mile, and Brynn, 12, placed 4th in the 12-14 division with a 6:22 clocking.
