Runners from Litchfield and Northfield celebrated Independence Day at the Pittsfield Independence 5K in Pittsfield, Mass., on Thursday.
More than 930 runners took part in the flat out-and-back course.
Representing the Village Striders were Jim and JoJo Moore who, as usual, finished together in 31:27. JoJo was 546th and Jim 547th.
The Litchfield Track Club had four runners in the race, led by Abbie Johnston who was the fourth overall female finisher in 20:12 and 53rd overall. Her father, Lee, wasn't that far behind in 67th place in 20:53.
Caleb Johnston placed 2nd in the 10 and under division with a 23:04 clocking while his sister, Gianna, placed 17th in the 11-15 age group in 33:31.
The idea to run in Pittsfield was Abbie's as she, at age 14, has set a goal of running a race in all 50 states. Massachusetts is now added to New York, Nevada and, of course, Connecticut.
