In a rematch of the 2018 Tri-Town League championship game, the Red Sox avenged last year's loss to the Orioles by defeating the birds 6-5 at Community Field on Thursday.
The well-played contest was tied at 4-4 after four innings before the Red Sox rallied for two runs in the fifth. The Sox then held off the Orioles in the top of the sixth as Anthony Turtoro nailed down the save in relief of starter Malin Adams.
Chad Turtoro and John Pickert, a former Litchfield High School baseball standout, were the coaches for the Red Sox. Brian Coffey, Rob Gollow and Keith Lipinsky formed the Orioles' braintrust.
