Runners compete in Wickham cross-country invite

Litchfield and Wamogo middle school and high school cross-country runners competed in the Wickham Park Invitational in East Hartford on Saturday.
More than 5,000 runners from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island participated.
In the middle school races that started the day, Wamogo’s Justin Ferrier and Braden Steward placed 146th and 203rd, respectively, in a field of 393 runners in the boys’ race. In the girls’ race, Brynn Bergin placed 3rd overall out of 335 finishers.
Wamogo fielded a team in the high school boys’ race’s unseeded division of 413 runners. Tyler Giggey led Wamogo with a 19:57 time for 3.1 miles. In the girls’ race for Wamogo, Meg Salmon placed 76th.
Litchfield had three runners take part with Zjans Crapo medaling in the freshman 4000-meter race in 17:00.
