A five-game winning streak that put Wamogo in position to secure a Class S state tournament berth came to an end with a 4-1 loss to Thomaston on Monday.
The Warriors are 7-8 and need one win in their final five games to qualify for the tournament.
Colin Ferrer pitched six strong innings for the Warriors, giving up four hits, striking out six and allowing one earned run. His suicide squeeze bunt delivered Wamogo's run.
In another well-played game Saturday, Wamogo defeated Litchfield 4-1 as Sean Coffey pitched a three-hitter and struck out six. Coffey, Collins and Tyler Calhoun each drove in a run with singles.
Jared Guilmart was outstanding on the mound for the Cowboys with a complete-game seven-hitter. He struck out six as his team fell to 2-12.
