The season came to an end for the Wamogo and Litchfield girls basketball teams in the first round of the Class S tournament on Monday.
Wamogo lost at Thomaston, 43-29, while Litchfield lost at East Hampton, 55-33. The Warriors (8-14) made a respectable showing in their fourth meeting of the season against the Berkshire League champion Golden Bears. Thomaston pretty much won the game in the first quarter by outscoring the Warriors 17-7.
Morgan Betti led Wamogo with nine points, Rose Kelly had eight and Cassidy Wilson seven.
Litchfield (6-16) had the difficult assignment of playing top-seeded East Hampton (21-3). Despite the disparity in records, the Cowgirls stayed with East Hampton in the first quarter, trailing 11-8. East Hampton outscored the Cowgirls 18-6 in the second quarter to take a 29-14 lead.
Litchfield played East Hampton to a standstill in the third quarter but was held to just six points in the fourth quarter as East Hampton pulled away. Mary Spierto had 11 points and Amber Marino and Sam Foley each had seven to pace the Cowgirls.
