A referendum on the proposed town budget of $9,634,061 for 2017-18 will be held Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m.
The proposed budget is $553,848, or 6.1 percent, higher than the current budget of $9,080,213. Under the proposal, taxes would increase by 2.31 mills, from the current rate of 27.83 mills to 30.14 mills.
Included in the spending plan is $2,998,411 for municipal spending and $6,635,650 for the approved Region 6 Board of Education budget.
A taxpayer with property assessed at $200,000 would pay $6,028 in taxes in 2017-18 under a tax rate of 30.14 mills, an increase of $462 over the current tax of $5,566.
