New retaining walls are in store for Litchfield's recycling center, as is new pavement for driveways and parking areas.
The public works department is planning to replace 530 linear feet of deteriorating retaining walls. Public works Director Raz Alexe briefed the Board of Selectmen on the project on Tuesday. There is $384,000 in the town's capital budget to fund the design of the new walls, Alexe said.
Once a design is in place the project will be put out to bid. The new walls will be made of poured concrete in replacing the current walls of concrete blocks, Alexe said. The project is scheduled for next summer.
