For the first time since 2007, Litchfield owns a share of the Berkshire League boys soccer championship.
The Cowboys clinched a tie for the title with Lewis Mills by defeating 5-0 on Wednesday. Coach Rob Andrulis's club finished 13-2-1 and now sets its sights on the Class S state tournament. Litchfield will get a bye in the first round of the tournament on Tuesday and will host a second-round game next Thursday.
"We knew we had a good team at the beginning of the season and we've reached our potential and beyond," Litchfield's Charlie Shanks said. "Coach always says that we have to give that extra 2 percent effort in every game, and that's what we've done."
Tim Donovan scored three goals in the win over Wamogo to finish the regular season with 26 goals, one shy of Matt Hula's regular-season school record. Shanks and Miles Chapman each had a goal for the Cowboys. Goalie Coleby Bunnell made five saves.
Garrett Oliver stopped 10 shots for Wamogo, which finished 4-11-1.
