Litchfield County Blues falter in soccer contest

A rash of injuries and inconsistent play derailed the Litchfield County Blues in their Shoreline Adult Soccer League game against Newtown on Sunday.
 
The game was tied at 1-1 when Lee Owler and Scott Hinman went down with injuries and Newtown went on a 6-1 run to win 7-2. Mark Barone and Jose Almieda scored for the Blues and Dave Oliver recorded 15 saves in goal.

With four games remaining, the Blues are  2-1-2 and in fourth place in the SASL second division. The Blues will play Caesus West Haven at Ken Strong Stadium in West Haven at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
