Litchfield Hills soccer team starts season strong

The Litchfield Hills FC girls’ under-15 premier soccer team is off to a good start in the fall season.
 
In the Fairfield FAST tournament on Labor Day weekend, Litchfield Hills went undefeated in four matches, winning the championship in its age group. Teams from Connecticut and New York participated.
 
Litchfield Hills includes players from Litchfield and surrounding towns and is coached by Dave Shannon. Than Southard, Shawn Sepples and Sam Olmstead are the assistant coaches. Scott McCarty, boys’ soccer coach at Forman School, has worked with the team’s goalies.
 
On Sunday, the team traveled to Stonington and defeated the Mendonca Soccer Academy, 3-1. Riley Southard, Liv Zeitler and Emily Migliorisi scored the goals and Emma Colley and goalie Emily Grasselar provided tough defense.
