Wamogo and Lewis Mills, as expected, will square off for a third time this season when they play for the Berkshire League tournament championship Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Thomaston.
The Warriors (19-3) advanced to the title game with a 52-32 win over Northwestern in the semifinals Tuesday at Thomaston. Mills (21-1) moved on by routing Thomaston 77-57 in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader. Mills, with a superior height and size advantage, defeated Wamogo twice in the regular season.
Wamogo scored the first nine points Tuesday and by the end of the first quarter was up 18-5. With Reid Turtoro, Garrett Satazahn and Eric Zappone shooting well, the Warriors opened the second quarter with a 13-2 run that made it 31-7. Northwestern woke up a bit to trim the gap to 31-14 at halftime and went on a 9-2 run to start the second half, but got no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Turtoro finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds and four assists and Sattazahn had 13 points and nine rebounds. Zappone added 11 points.
