The annual Litchfield-Wamogo women's alumni game was all Wamogo for the second straight year as Litchfield failed to field a team on its home court on Tuesday.
Wamogo alumni broke into two teams and entertained the crowd with a lively display of basketball. The game served as a fundraiser for the Litchfield-Morris Rotary Club and was sponsored by E.J. Murphy Realty, LaBonne's Markets, BantamWesson, the Village Restaurant and the Village Wine Cellar.
Donating their time to officiate the game were Mia Barbieri and Phil Monteleone.
The game proved that Tracy Stolle, who scored a school-record 1,924 points and led Wamogo to the Class S championship in 1995, can still shoot it, that her sisters, 1,000-point scorers Kristi and Kerri, still have game, that Michaela Breakell is still full of energy, and that the likes of Paige LaBonne, Kellie Finn and Megan Layman can still put the ball in the basket.
In all, it was an evening of fun and a time to reminisce about the great moments the 14 former players provided during their playing days.
As for Litchfield, interest in the alumni game waned over the last few years and reached a new low on Tuesday. The Litchfield program, unlike Wamogo's, lacks tradition beyond the immensely successful decade of legendary coach Bob Anzellotti and has slowly declined since Anzellotti was forced out in 2009.
